Volleyball Team Tournament – August 22-24, 2008
Tournament Info/House Rules for Team
Captains
Enclosed is your Tournament Pool Play schedule &
Brackets and list of registered teams. Here are a few items for your review.
Team Confirmation letter and Roster will be available in Captain’s packet at
Check-In.
Athlete Check In:

Tournament Headquarters will be at the Rio
Rancho High School Gym at 301 Loma Colorado NE, Rio Rancho, NM
-
Check-In Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and
Saturday and Sunday morning, 7:00 a.m.

Teams may have up to 3 out of state players
per team
-
Captains may make up to three changes to their
roster prior to team’s first bracket game as long as changes do not affect
age division. Only exceptions must be approved by the Arbitration committee.

Pool Play is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm on
Friday (with open roster for Pool Play only)

All athletes must check in with Photo ID
required prior to participating. NO EXCEPTIONS

Game Shirts, credentials and Captains Packets
will be at distributed at Check In
Athlete Social/Mixer:
The social/mixer will take place at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday evening at the Santa Ana Star Casino, Bosque Ballroom - no games will
be scheduled during this time. The social/mixer is casual and “come as you are”.
The social/mixer will feature an Italian Buffet, DJ music, cash bar and door
prizes. Social/mixer is free to registered athletes and $8.00 for all guests.
Guests must purchase tickets during Athlete Check In before 10:00 a.m. Saturday
and present ticket at the door. No refunds.

A mandatory Captain’s meeting will be held at
the Rio Rancho High School Gym – Friday 5:00 p.m. – if you are unable to
attend, please send a representative

All athletes must check in with Photo ID
required prior to participating. NO EXCEPTIONS
-
Shoelace must be worn as credentials during
all play throughout tournament. Players not wearing shoelace will not be
allowed to participate.

Teams must be of one gender with the exception
of Co-Ed
-
Men and Women’s Pool Play begins Friday
afternoon- See schedule

Players do not have to participate in pool
play to participate in bracket play
-
Pool play is 2 games to 25, with a cap at 27
or a 25-minute time limit, whichever comes first
-
Rally scoring will be utilized
-
All teams need to be at the gym with
sufficient time to allow for continuous play. All pool play and bracket play
will be continuous play.

Bracket Play is 2 out of 3 to 25 points for
the first two games. Third game is to 15 points
-
Win by two, no cap and no time limit in
bracket.

Team must have five players present to start a
bracket game; otherwise, game will be a forfeit. Teams will be allowed a
fifteen-minute grace period to assemble a minimum of five players. In the
event of an injury, a team may continue/finish with a minimum of four
players on the floor.

Teams competing with only five players shall
always have three players on the front row. No service rotation penalty
shall be assessed for not having six players

Co-Ed Rules: Regular Co-Ed play will be
utilized

Of the six players on the team, three must
be men and three must be women. If a game must be started with five
players, three of them must be women. The net height will be 2.43 meters
or 7’11” for 50+ age group or 7’9” for all other age groups

If a Co-Ed team has only 5 players and 3
players are men, teams will be allowed to start a game and play with 2
men and 2 women on a team

Time outs - two (2) 30 second time outs per
game for pool and bracket play.

All players must have matching color shirt(s)
- exception libero, must be contrasting color

Teams must have shirts numbered both front and
back
-
Individual teams must supply practice balls
and NMSO will provide game balls

Jewelry will not be allowed. Only religious
medals are allowed and must be taped to the body under clothing.

NMSO officials reserve the right to
reschedule, modify or cancel any portion of tournament due to inclement
weather, team numbers or unplayable conditions

All Team Tournaments will adhere to the New
Mexico Senior Olympics, Inc. official rulebook. This will include but is not
limited to Code of Conduct, Protests, Appeal Process, and scheduling
procedures
