78-Year-Old Tony Quici
Tony is going to ride across America with the Washington State Branch of the American Lung Association—"Big Ride 2003." The group will start in Seattle, Washington on June 23 and ride cross the heartland to Washington, DC, arriving on August 9th. He won’t be at the State Games this year but it looks as though he will be getting his exercise—just 80 miles a day. To enter, Tony must raise $5000 for the American Lung Association. He is doing speaking engagements, selling candy, and soliciting donations. He has done it before, but this year it is proving to be much more difficult. He tells us it is a sign of the times we live in. Tony reports he has only $800 more to go! Though Tony is 78 this year he has been an avid cyclist for a long time. Having ridden across the continent with this group a few years ago and several long tours through Europe and the Orient, Tony does have the experience—now to see if he still has the UMPH.We think he does!
